ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IN LONG ISLAND CITY

A1 Collision NY & Auto Care runs roadside assistance from 8 AM to 8 PM, every day, across the five boroughs, in partnership with AAA and A-1 Towing. If the car will not start, will not move, or you cannot get into it, this is the number to call: (212) 564-7100.

Because we are also a full repair shop at 4525 36 Street, Long Island City 11101, a car that needs more than roadside work can come straight here rather than being towed twice.

What roadside assistance services do you provide?

  • Towing. Flatbed and conventional, for cars that cannot be driven safely.
  • Jump starts. A flat battery in a parking garage or on the street.
  • Lockouts. Locksmith and car unlocking when the keys are inside.
  • Fuel delivery and refills. Enough to get you to a station.
  • Tire repair and replacement. Roadside change, or recovery if the wheel is damaged.

Which areas does your roadside assistance reach?

Long Island City, Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island. Tell us the cross streets and whether the car is in a garage, on a bridge approach, or in a lane of traffic, because that changes what equipment comes out.

What should I tell you when I call for roadside help?

  • Where the car is, as precisely as you can, and whether it is safe to stand clear of traffic
  • Make, model and roughly what happened
  • Whether the wheels turn freely, which decides flatbed against conventional towing
  • Whether you have AAA cover, since we work with them

If the car has been in a collision, say so on the call. Where a car is towed to usually decides where it gets repaired, and you are entitled to choose that yourself rather than letting an insurer choose for you.

What happens after my car is towed?

Recovery is often the start rather than the end. We handle collision repair, mechanical repair, tires and New York State inspection in the same building, and we deal with insurance adjusters directly.

Do I need a tow or roadside assistance?

If the car can be made safe to drive where it stopped, roadside service is usually enough. If it cannot, or driving it would be unsafe, it needs a tow.
